The principal of the studio, David Anand Peterson was born in Georgetown, Guyana and immigrated to Canada as a young child. His formal architectural education began at Sheridan College in Toronto where he received a Diploma in Architectural Building Technology. He studied Art and Architectural History at Carleton University in Ottawa before attending the University of Toronto’s school of Architecture, Landscape and Design where he received his professional degree in architecture. David did further study in architecture and urban design at Delft University; the renowned architecture school in Holland.
"Architectural craft and beauty, for me, should serve people and the urban ecological environment they inhabit. At best, the architecture I have designed and made has a keen sense of people and their experiences. I am most pleased when an occupant notices the changes in natural light and landscape through a window made for this experience. I make an opening in an exterior corridor to create a moment of pause; a space to witness and connect to the surroundings. A condition not possible in the windowless corridors of most residential towers. In architectural practice, I focus on housing because it is the building we first know. It helps shape our early lives. Before my architectural studies, the experience of children living in multi-residential buildings was an interest of mine. As a result, I am mindful of a young child’s social life and related architectural environment. Children meeting and playing in a courtyard that I have designed for this purpose speaks to my ongoing interest."
